AN EDUCATIONAL FACILITY FOR MYCELIUM, MOSS AND ALGAE

The project’s aim was to raise the users’ awareness of viewing the climate crisis in a more passive and experimental manner than the norm, in addition to exploring how a community can live and learn with the adjacent River Don.

Desiging as a journey through three different elements of nature, this projected is intended to raise the user’s awareness of viewing the climate crisis in a more passive and experimental manner than the norm. On the path from the bottom to the top of the existing building in question, one encounters a number of playful interventions. These range from a series of live walls that grow right in front of the naked eye to an outdoor gym can help contribute to decarbonisation and environemtnal change not just on-shore, but off-shore too. Ultimately, the sole investigation of my project is to explore how a community can live and learn with the river.

Here being showcased on the top of the picture collection showcase here is a collaged render of a natural biophilic construction on the water, that looks at how rainwater can utilised for good, as well as reducing the local carbon footprint by growing materials such as agave plants, that can be processed and grown at much lower temperatures. This image wass inspired following on from my efforts within my undergraduate class group exploring the theme of the people’s energy, and I wanted to explore more on the themes of biophilic construction, greenwashing, climate adaptation and even neighbourhood regeneration (the latter of which is what became my main influence for the visualisation being shown here).
